Science should never be heavy going or inaccessible.
Interacting with the press shouldn't be daunting.
Giving a talk shouldn't make you want to run for the hills.

I've spent the last 20 years making complicated science fun and interesting.

Drawing on my experience from the worlds of science communication, stand-up comedy, story telling, journalism and PR, I now train others to do the same. Happy clients include FameLab, Quantum Black, UCL, ACM and the Schlumberger Foundation.

I offer bespoke science communication workshops. These can be as short as a couple of hours, or, more usually, a deeper dive that takes a day or two.

Each workshop is designed to meet the client's needs, but common themes include:

Making headlines:  How to get your science into the news, including news values, press releases and interacting with the media.

Science writing: Including how to make your content more engaging. Writing news and features. Getting your book idea off the ground.

Communication skills: Including giving talks, storytelling, jargon slaying, communicating with confidence, the use of humor, and the benefits of public engagement.

If you're a scientist wondering how to reach the media, or would like to learn how to communicate more effectively, please get in touch to see what I can offer.
